Taryoon is the current capital of the Chalionese province of Baocia. It is the home of the Provincar dy Baocia, who left his mother, the dowager Provincara dy Baocia, to preside over the previous capital at Valenda. The Provincar then built a new palace to replace a 'cramped and lowering' fortress as the seat of government.
During The Curse of Chalion, Iselle escapes from Valenda and rides cross-country to Taryoon, a sixty mile journey. Her wedding with Royse Bergon is held in Taryoon, attended by over a thousand people of rank. Subsequently, her supporters are attacked at Taryoon's Temple by Martou dy Jironal's forces.
