At the start of the Curse of Chalion, the Heir of Ibra was the Fox of Ibra's eldest son. The Heir had been in rebellion against his father on and off for years, with Orico inevitably picking the wrong side to support. The Heir's most recent rebellion was raised in South Ibra with the support of Darthaca. Worried that the Fox might chose his younger brother to replace him, the Heir arranged to have Bergon dy Ibra kidnapped and sold into slavery. When the crime came to light, the Fox demanded the Heir's abject surrender. Instead, the Heir died abruptly of a coughing sickness. Royse Bergon became the new Heir of Ibra.
